GOLD Medal Masters Champs Dave Stevens & Gavin White visit CELL Bikes fresh from their victories in Portugal

CELL Bikes are proud supporters of Brennan IT Team Tank members who recently competed in the World Masters Track Championships in Portugal. Team members Gavin White and Dave Stevens both gained Gold Medals in their respective divisions. Gavin riding in the 35-39 age group, won the Sprint and the 1000m Time Trial, in a very smart time of 1:06. He also teamed with Geoff Stoker and David Wilmott to win the Team Sprint title. Gavin is also one of 3 final nominees for World Masters Champion of the Year Track Cyclist. This will be announced at the end of this month. This is a huge honour for Gavin and his Coach Sean Eadie, former World Sprint Champion and currently Australian Sprint development coach. He works closely with Brennan Team Tank sprinters all year round at Dunc Gray Velodrome in Australia.

Dave Stevens performance was rated by his coach Tank Doherty as “one of the best he has seen from any athlete that he has coached in his many years of coaching.” Hit by a truck less than 12 months ago, with life threatening injuries, he showed grit and determination that obviously has made him a very successful businessman and now a World Champion track cyclist in winning the 25km Points Score Championship, as well as his ‘pet’ event, the 3000m Pursuit. Dave performed well above his previous best to take Gold in both events. Tank assures us “this is only the start and a World Record attempt is planned for the near future”. Both these boys are regular visitors to the CELL cycle store at Stanmore, as is many of the other elite cyclists who call in to do their shopping, and say “Hi” and get running repairs from the CELL workshop staff to keep them on the road.
