When is the Best Time to Buy a Bike?

While there is no specific best time to buy a bike there are a few times during the year when you can get a great deal and save some money.

The 3 big factors that affect buying time are:

  • What Season It Is
  • New Models
  • Christmas

In Australia, many price conscious buyers find the 3 best times to buy a bike are:

September/October

In September/October,  every year (or very close to) next year’s models come out. Many bike shops clear out their old stock to make room for the latest and greatest bikes. As time passes by, the price of older bikes continue to reduce, but selection also goes down. You may be able to get a very good deal on the previous year’s model in January but you would be very lucky to find one the right size (especially if you are of average height).

After Christmas

While Summer is usually a great time to buy a bike, there is always a HUGE rush leading up to Christmas and a quiet period following Christmas. Depending on the shop and how much of a rush and quiet period they experience, you can usually find a great a deal in an after-Christmas-sale.

In the middle of winter

Most people tend to buy their bikes in the spring, summer and early autumn. If you are after a great bargain, then the best time to look for a bike is in the middle of winter. This is a low point in sales and most bike shops will give you a good deal so they can make a sale and keep their employees busy until the spring season starts.

Exceptions to the Rule!

Of course there are exceptions to the rule, and we at CELL Bikes definitely strive to give you the best prices year round! As well contantly sell bikes, as well as have bikes coming in, we will always give you the best deal we can, with prices that are often the lowest in the world!
